We have recently been given centre approval by AAT (Awarding body for Accountancy courses) to run our own testing from the CSCS Testing Centre. We are the only private company in the Gloucestershire area to do this.
James Newman was a pupil at Maidenhill School in Stonehouse, who took part in our Employability Skills Programme. James showed an interest in construction from the very beginning, he had a succesful extended work experience placement with JR Bennett & Sons for 6 months for which he had both excellent attendance and reports.
James then progressed onto the Prospect Training Building Skills course. James was very keen from the start and got stuck into the building tasters that we offer to all new students. James decided on the plastering route and worked with our plastering tutor Malcolm White. James progressed well with this and was chosen to help Malcolm work at Belmont School, where he helped Malcolm to set up a basic building skills project for pupils with learning difficulties. James worked extra hours in order to do this and received praise from the staff and pupils.
In January of this year James was chosen to do a work placement with Yorke Construction as a general labourer. James worked hard and we received good feedback, at the end of the placement James was offered a full time job as a labourer. James is now earning a full time wage and his new employers have helped him finance the puchase of a moped, so he now has independance..
